DO NOT BE A PESSIMIST…Winnegrad

Maya Angelou said; “THERE IS NOTHING SO TRAGIC AS A PESSIMIST, BECAUSE IT MEANS THE PERSON HAS GONE FROM KNOWING NOTHING TO BELIEVING NOTHING.” Negativity poisons the heart. When one is CYNICAL of another person’s work, that contempt for the achievement of others is actually to hide from others and from themselves their own weakness.

Mistaking CYNICISM for critical thinking is becoming an epidemic of self-appointed critics. When contemptuous disbelief becomes the default language, playfulness and creativity become impossible.  With this culture of general distrust many new ideas that are just being cultivated are destroyed.

Adam Grant of the Wharton School of Business has shown in a study that he conducted; CYNICAL people appear wise and insightful while positive statements are seen as being naïve.

Individuals become a PESSIMIST because they are afraid of failure or disappointment. This CYNICISM is fear, which will keep you fastened to the past. The future is eliminated, saying NO IS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO FORWARD.

WE ALL ARE ABLE TO PERSEVERE, BE INNOVATIVE AND LEARN FROM FAILURE. We cannot progress or learn from the discouraging gloomy view of PESSIMISM. Bertrand Russell said; “CONSTRUCTION AND DESTRUCTION ALIKE SATISFY THE WILL TO POWER, BUT CONSTRUCTION IS MORE DIFFICULT AS A RULE, AND THEREFORE GIVES MORE SATISFACTION TO THE PERSON WHO CAN ACHIEVE IT.”

THERE ARE MANY EXPRESSIONS FOR PESSIMIST; DOUBT, CYNICISM, LOW SPIRITED, NEGATIVE, LACK OF EXPECTATION, WORRIER AND DISTRUSTFUL. THESE ARE ENOUGH OF A REASON TO AVOID THAT MINDSET AND JUST MAKE THE ATTEMPT. EXPERIENCE FULLFILMENT AND JUST TRY.

  1. Pessimism and Cynism represent a clear dishonoring of the Creator’s gift of life and all that it has to offer…from a perspective of natural order, if all is as it should be, than negative thinking is a poor “lens” through which to sense the life we are granted. Honor this gift with Present, Positive and Grateful being, and Life shall be rich and full…smile ~ it looks good on you 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day!
