DEEP AND SIMPLE…Winnegrad

A saying of Mr. Rogers was; “DEEP AND SIMPLE IS FAR MORE NECESSARY THAN SHALLOW AND COMPLEX.” Young children are so much more superior for their instinctive small acts of HELPFULNESS, the SMALL HUG, the SHARING OF WHAT THEY HAVE THAT OTHERS DO NOT HAVE.

What happens to the DEEP AND SIMPLE? When do the young children lose these wonderful moral properties of conduct? Why do they lose these wonderful qualities? Is it when we give trophies to all participants? Is it because we have everyone graduating school with honors? Have we now produced so many SHALLOW AND COMPLEX individuals that they have no understanding of being as a young child? Being DEEP AND SIMPLE as a young child is lost to many.

Public kindness is so scarce today, especially in the workplace. We must realize that to be VULNERABLE as a young child is not a negative trait. To be TRUSTING as a young child is not a negative trait. To be COOPERATIVE as a young child is not a negative trait. Just be DEEP AND SIMPLE and you will see it is not a negative trait to display.

Nelson Mandela said; “As adults we tend to judge our progress on external factors such as one’s social position, influence, popularity, wealth and education. But internal factors may be even more crucial in assessing one’s development as a human being. HONESTY, SINCERITY, SIMPLICITY, HUMILITY, READINESS TO SERVE OTHERS—qualities which are within easy reach of EVERY SOUL—are the foundation of one’s spiritual life. Never forget that a saint is a sinner who keeps on trying.”

Everyone that you encounter at work will prosper if they receive the DEEP AND SIMPLE way of a young child. Be the spark to ignite the young child in all persons. Know your position in the workplace, be DEEP AND SIMPLE, show everyone the young child within.

EVERYONE HAS THE YOUNG CHILD WITHIN THEMSLVES, BEING DEEP AND SIMPLE IS SO EASY.

  2. Thank you for this reminder. I don’t always find it easy to stay DEEP and SIMPLE. Many times, I can feel sucked into the shallow complexities of life, and only through a daily spiritual practice, can I keep myself a “step/breath-length” away from balance and equanimity. The core existence that maintains my spiritual fulfillment of life…thank you.
    Namaste ~
