Chief Leon Shenandoah said; “There’s no need to WORRY. THE CREATOR’S UPSET WHEN WE WORRY BECAUSE HE’S ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING. IF WE WORRY THEN HE KNOWS WE ARE NOT RELYING ON HIM. Whatever concerns you, doesn’t matter because it will work out the way it’s supposed to be. Your WORRY doesn’t change anything; it just delays things from working out the way the Creator planned all along. There are things that WORRY can do. It can make you take your mind off your path. It can make you sad while you’re waiting to see what’s going to happen. And it can make you have illnesses. Sometimes that can shorten your life. ALL THOSE THINGS DISPLEASE THE CREATOR. You could be about more important matters for the benefit of the people.” 

Another statement from Chief Shenandoah; “We’re taught that you’ve got to have SKIN SEVEN LAYERS THICK. You have to develop it. It’s a discipline to do that. There’s work to it. But when your skin is thick nobody can get at you. They can’t touch you. They can’t hurt your feelings or cause you to have jealousy. Money won’t tempt you. If somebody works bad medicine on you, it’ll never find your weakness. It’ll go right back on that person who sent it your way. That is why we say you’ve got to have SKIN SEVEN LAYERS THICK. IF SOMEBODY TOUCHES YOU A LITTLE, YOU’LL ALWAYS HAVE ANOTHER LAYER OF SKIN FOR PROTECTION.”

Chief Shenandoah was a caring remarkable and outstanding Haudenosaunee Chief.
