It is okay to talk to yourself out loud when there is a problem to analyze or resolve. According to Doctor Robert Kraft, a professor of cognitive psychology, most of us talk to ourselves out loud far more then we realize. To benefit from this talking out loud to ourselves we have to be absolutely aware of what is being said. Research has shown that holding these “conversations” aloud may be the surest way to reap their benefits.
It has been shown that talking out loud helps one to learn new difficult material when studying. It also helps one to stay focused when doing difficult physical tasks. Also when one is in a difficult situation, talking aloud helps that situation to be more understandable while providing self-management. Self-talk also helps one perform better in performing, such as in sports. Self-talk also helps one to overcome regret or fear by reducing self-criticism.
No one is INSANE talking out-loud to themselves, according to Dr. Kraft’s study. This is a relief to me, I have been talking out-loud, for about 45 years, to Grizz, my teddy bear. I carried him to work every day. When there was an issue or problem, I would talk to him in front of other people. It did help me a lot, but it gave me an image of being INSANE. Now after reading Dr. Kraft’s study I am relieved, after some 45 long years.
IT’S IMPORTANT TO TALK OUT-LOUD TO YOURSELF. TALKING INTERNALLY GETS MIXED UP WITH OTHER THOUGHTS.
TAKE CARE, STAY WELL, STAY HEALTHY. HAVE FAITH. THANK YOU.
