In his childhood, Coach John Wooden, the two sets of three was learned; 1. Never lie, 2. Never cheat and 3. Never steal. And when things do not work out; 1. Do not whine, 2. Do not complain, 3. Do not make excuses. Remember if you are not making mistakes, you are not doing anything— you are not trying to make things happen. He also learned; if you cannot control your emotions, then your emotions will control you. When emotions are in control, you will always lose.
Wooden was the most winning coach in the history of basketball. That was due to his incredible philosophy on life. He also expected from his players; always be fair, just and honest and you will inspire others. Wooden also let his players know that success is a peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction knowing you made the effort to become the best you are capable of becoming. We may not be in control of the outcome, but we can always control the input—our effort.
The teaching’s of Wooden was exceptional. He also said; Talent can get you to the top, but remember it takes character to remain there. With talent one should be humble. With fame one should be thankful. Conceit is self-given, always reject that self-gift. One last teaching to remember; be sure you are right, then go ahead. Be sure you are wrong before you quit.
OUTSTANDING CHARACTER BUILDING BELIEFS FOR CHILDREN AS WELL AS ADULTS. BE A WINNER AND BE AS WOODEN.
TAKE CARE, STAY WELL, STAY HEALTHY, HAVE FAITH. THANK YOU.
