WHAT HAPPENED?…Winnegrad

WHAT HAPPENED to listening to the DESIRES, WISHES, AND DREAMS of a CUSTOMER, FRIEND, COLLEAGUE, OR CHILD? We are so caught up in the tangled interconnection of life that we sometimes take SHORT CUTS in listening. We do not listen with our HEARTS, UNDIVIDED ATTENTION, EYES AND EARS. So we therefore walk away from the encounter with our INTERPRETATIONS or IMPRESSIONS to what was said, not the DESIRE or REQUEST of the person talking. WHAT HAPPENED?

Listening properly enhances the collaborative work of all. WHAT HAPPENED?  Is it all the distractions within the web of life, or is the “DISENGAGED LISTENER” feeding their biased ego?

WHAT HAPPENED? When a request or story from a CUSTOMER can go from something like, a  very specific demand such as a “ROSE,” to walking away from the customer with a very general IMPRESSION such as a “BOTANICAL GARDEN.” Doing as such we have lost the art of listening and therefore lose the possibility of satisfying the needs of the CUSTOMER. The TALKING STICK (from an earlier post) eliminates this kind of misconnection. If you repeat the REQUEST back to the person asking for the “ROSE” to their satisfaction, you then do not leave with your IMPRESSION or INTERPRETATION. You leave with their REQUEST of the specific demand of “ROSE.”

When you listen to the DESIRES of another you end up “NEURAL-COUPLING” with each other. When another’s brain is stimulated in the same place as yours a trust develops. With trust, success will follow. WHAT HAPPENED?

TAKE THE TIME TO REALLY LISTEN AND YOU WILL NOT BE SAYING, WHAT HAPPENED?

ARE YOU LISTENING?

  1. Yes. I feel one of the greatest gifts that we have is the opportunity to be present with another. Present and committed to engaging on THEIR frequency. Without question, it is the way to make an impression, by being there for them, committing to discovering the Power of Now with them.

  2. Yes, I am listening! And I knew you would talk about the walking stick before you did – so that proves I’ve been listening all these years my friend. This was a good reminder for many reasons. Thank you. 💜
