Mindfulness and deep breathing helps one to focus on the present moment. It is attention training as well as a HEALING FOR ANXIETY. Meditation and deep-breathing exercises, lowers stress, eases anxiety, improves sleep, helps the immune system, and reduces depression. Deep breathing can be learned at an early age of four years and up into adulthood. Children exhibited better attention, awareness, gratitude, happiness and receive better grades than did a control group in a past study. The results with children and adults were immediate after fifteen minutes of practice.
Calm breathing triggers the nervous system which slows heart rate and makes blood pressure go down, the opposite of the fight-or-flight response. NOT LOOKING AT THE GOAL, JUST SEEING THE PROCESS is another way of being calm, focused. Just BE HERE, NOW!
In an other study it was found that teachers and leaders that are burned out or stressed will raise the levels of the stress hormone, cortisol ,of their students and colleagues. It has been known for years that stress and fear are contagious. That being so, being calm is also contagious. Okay then, BE HERE, NOW!
Deep breathing is simply taking in a deep breath for the silent count of four seconds and an exhale for the silent count of seven seconds. Do the count once or twice to get the rhythm. Continue breathing as such for five or ten minutes. Do this every morning starting the day. When ever stressed or feeling anxiety do two or three breathes as such and that would be sufficient to bring back the calm. BE HERE, NOW!
TAKE CARE, STAY WELL, STAY HEALTHY. HAVE FAITH. THANK YOU.
