ILLUSION…Winnegrad

“THE GREATEST ENEMY OF KNOWLEDGE IS NOT IGNORANCE, IT IS THE ILLUSION OF KNOWLEDGE,” said Steven Hawking. To learn any skill; a sport, a musical instrument, managing people, cooperating with others, is first learned through obtaining KNOWLEDGE for that particular endeavor. The KNOWLEDGE then has to be sharpened into a fine skill. A skill takes 10,000 hours of DELIBERATE PRACTICE to learn, to execute that skill INTUITIVELY.

Too many people are content with the ILLUSION OF KNOWLEDGE. It takes much less effort, there is no dedication for the craft that they seem to want to MASTER. There are those that want to be judged by surface factors of KNOWLEDGE, that is the ILLUSION.

I am confused with this mentality. What satisfaction can be derived from this? Is it the appearance, THE ILLUSION, of knowing something? Are we appealing to our egos? Is this due to today’s demands, is time so precious and limited? The leaders of groups should encourage their direct reports to encounter DELIBERATE PRACTICE for whatever skills that they are involved with.

There is a tremendous feeling of satisfaction when one MASTERS a skill. Having the opportunity to TEACH YOUR OBTAINED SKILLS TO ANOTHER IS VERY REWARDING. When one MASTERS AN ILLUSION it is like the difference between CONFIDENCE and CERTAINTY. With CONFIDENCE you have a dialogue with others. With CERTAINTY your ego allows no dialogue with others, only a perception that’s unreal.

AN ILLUSION IS AN UNREAL APPEARANCE, A FALSE PERCEPTION. SO STOP THE ILLUSIONS, PUT YOUR HEART AND SOUL INTO YOUR CRAFT AND MAKE IT A GIFT TO EVERYONE.

  1. Appreciate the VALUE of DELIBERATE PRACTICE. Practicing a WAY of mindfulness, non-ego, compassion, gratitude EVERY DAY…is paying off, making a life presence come with more ease each and every day.
