In honor of Native American month
The following are words from the former Chief of the Haudenosaunee, Leon Shenandoah:
“There must be laughter in life. That is one of our instructions. When the Peacemaker was leaving us to go to the Creator, he told us to have laughter. That would show him how much we were enjoying being here on this earth and being part of the creation. When times are toughest we are supposed to have laughter. It helps us to get through the hard parts that come our way. When the people have decisions to make and things get tense between them, laughter breaks that tenseness. Somebody will tell a joke to make everyone laugh, then they can go back to making the decision without being angry. We are not supposed to take everything in too serious a way. We are always to have THE GOOD MIND. If our mind is clouded how can good decisions ever be made? Laughter clears our mind and reminds us of the Creator. So, that is why he instructed us always to have laughter.”
The GOOD MIND is not only for adults. Children in school can also benefit from the advice. When they are having trouble with their homework, have them think of something funny that has recently happened. Let them tell the story so laughter will clear their mind so they can solve the problem.
TAKE CARE, STAY WELL, STAY HEALTHY. HAVE FAITH. BEAR LOVE. THANK YOU.
