A HUG is a simple gesture of trust, affection and friendship. “To HUG” means to hold closely, to cherish. The word HUG comes from Scandinavian origin, around the 1560s, from the Old Norse-the word meant “to comfort.”
There is no clear origin on when it originated. It seems to be an instinctive act where humans express comfort. In battle, HUGGING and handshaking were first started as a way to show your enemy you had no visible weapons, there was no danger.
In 2003 there was a study done that showed that oxytocin, known as the cuddle or bonding hormone, increased with HUGGING and blood pressure was lowered. HUGGING indicates a desire to comfort, celebrate with another, to connect.
To HUG a colleague, a friend; shows a trust, a willingness to work together with a common goal. The HUG exhibits an in sync belief in the collaboration that you will begin to embark on. It is nice to have the comfort of a HUG before you begin a difficult journey of putting separate minds on a path with the hopes of bringing diverse thoughts to a final destination. The HUG will bring down the blood pressure and increase the trust factor.
SO START CONNECTING. BESIDES THAT, A VALUED HUG IS JUST PLAIN NICE.
