You went to school to learn a trade or a skill. Then you go into the work force and make a living repeating the same skill over the course of your career. But these day’s machines do almost anything that is repetitive. The new world requires a different sort of person. Bill Drayton calls this new sort of person a CHANGEMAKER.
CHANGEMAKERS identify the problems in any situation, figure out ways to solve the problem, organize and TEAM UP (collaborate) to execute the resolution. Drayton calls this “COGNITIVE EMPATHY” which is based on LIVING FOR THE GOOD OF ALL. This is basically how people are feeling in evolving circumstances. Many people already live with this mindset. But they still inhabit the world of following rules and repetitive skills.
The basic challenge of our time is to make everyone a CHANGEMAKER. Many years ago, in the 1980’s, I witnessed a CHANGEMAKER on the Syracuse lacrosse field. A player standing behind the goal with the ball decided to not run around the goal to throw the ball in but actually dive over the goal and while in mid-air throw the ball into the goal. It was never done before. Some referees thought it was illegal because they never saw it executed. But reason prevailed and the goal was counted. That was a CHANGEMAKER.
All CHANGE flows from personal change. You CHANGE the world when you hold up a new and more attractive way to live. Yes, you too can be a CHANGEMAKER. You must not let the naysayers or the ones following their repetitive skills hold you back.
BE INNOVATIVE. CHANGE THE WORLD OF YOUR PROFESSION BUT ONLY IF IT BENEFITS ALL. DO NOT LET THE FEAR OF JUDGMENT DETER YOU. YOU ARE A CHANGEMAKER, JUST BELIEVE.

If I recall correctly, That CHANGEMAKER back in the Dome, also offered COGNITIVE EMPATHY. For the GOOD OF ALL, in case anyone missed it, HE DID IT AGAIN in that game. He offered that goalie and the defense an opportunity to make their own improvements. Practice, practice, practice.
On the topic of being innovative, I feel I fall short of that, but rather focus on the teaching of the Ancients, such as Lao Tzu, as well as the more contemporary, such as Bruce Lee and Dan Millman. Practicing the enduring wisdom of being present. Practicing mindfullness. Practicing water-like BEING… demonstrating this Way of Life, I feel I offer my higher self, and of most service to others.
Namaste ~
