ATTENTION IS SUCH A RARE GIFT…Winnegrad

This post is similar to one that was posted two years ago. I learned from my Native American friends that “to repeat something will eventually go to the HEART and not to the head.” So hopefully this post will reach your HEART.

“ATTENTION IS THE RAREST AND PUREST FORM OF GENEROSITY,” said Weil. The Chinese word TO LISTEN is comprised of four parts; EARS, EYES, UNDIVIDED ATTENTION AND HEART. Those four representations put together forms the word TO LISTEN. THAT IS TRULY A RARE GIFT. How many people do you know listen to you that way when you speak?

We can be stuck in a perspective bias, oblivious to other possibilities. There must be an atmosphere of trust and reciprocity. Giving ATTENTION to another allows the human capacity to link minds and HEARTS across cultures and generations to transform our lives.

ATTENTION which is also a form of EMPATHY is an essential ingredient for good leaders, success and excellent performance. We have to avoid self-absorption and pay ATTENTION to others. BY NOT GIVING ATTENTION TO OTHERS WE ALL BECOME BASICALLY ISLANDS.

ATTENTION TO OTHERS is a start to form a union. ATTENTION TO OTHERS will assist everyone to progress and reach FULFILLMENT. We must give our time, minds and above all our ATTENTION AS A GIFT.

IF WE GIVE ATTENTION AS A GIFT, WE WILL RECEIVE MUCH MORE IN RETURN. REMEMBER FROM THE NATIVE AMERICANS; “EVERYTHING IS IN A CIRCLE, WHAT IS GIVEN OUT WILL COME BACK WITH MORE.”

IT ALL STARTS WITH YOU. THE CIRCLE BEGINS WITH YOU. ALWAYS BE ATTENTIVE TO OTHERS.

  2. Ron. I believe this blog is most appropriate considering the positive action achieved on Friday, because Congresmen Flake obviously was LISTENING to all comments and opinions shared during the confirmation hearing for Bret Kavanaugh.
Without the willingness, and eventually ability to listen and therefore keep an open mind, one will never be big enough to admit “ they were wrong”.
Thank you for your wisdom. Best, Art

  3. I practice this regularly as my gesture of service and kindness. This form of connection is so readily available, and thus a valuable daily exercise to practice mindfulness founded from the heart (spirit of compassion).
