BEING A MISFIT…Winnegrad

Be proud of BEING CONSIDERED A MISFIT. A MISFIT is; A MAVERICK, A REBEL, A NONCONFORMIST and yes an ODDBALL. Some MISFITS of the past were, Leonardo Da Vinci, Einstein and Steve Jobs. Their ability to combine observation with fantasy allowed them to make unexpected leaps. To paraphrase Schopenhauer; “Talent hits a target that no one else can hit. A MISFIT (GENIUS) hits a target no one else can see.”

“We should remind ourselves of the importance of instilling within us and our children, not just received knowledge but also a willingness to question it—to be imaginative and, like talented MISFITS and REBELS from any era, TO THINK DIFFERENT,” said W. Isaacson.

A MISFIT knows that his CREATIVITY comes from a singular vision. But the MISFIT is also aware to execute it well, requires working with others. CREATIVITY is a COLLABORATIVE EFFORT.  MISFITS like Da Vinci, and Jobs manipulated and reconfigured existing ideas and forms, their innovations did not come from a vacuum. They drew from the work of others, influenced by what has come before.

So do not be concerned if you are considered or called a MISFIT. It surely is a complement. Remember, everybody has the ability to be CREATIVE. BUT TO BE A MISFIT, you have to put aside your fears and COLLABORATE with others. SHARE WITH OTHERS. Be a MISFIT as those from the past. We have lost our way with the use of technology. We should be more fearless and accept the label of MISFIT.

IT IS WHAT DRIVES HUMANS, A MISSION TO CREATE, INNOVATE AND MAKE SOMETHING NEW. SO ACCEPT THE TITLE OF MISFIT. MANY OUTSTANDING PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE PRIVELEGE TO BE CALLED, MISFIT.

  1. Marching to the beat of a different drummer is how I’ve always thought of it and many times wished I could be far more comfortable in that role. I so admire the misfits of this world…conformity isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be, at least that’s what I think. Great post – thank you. 💜
