QUALITIES FOR LEADERSHIP…A.Bryant, Winnegrad

There are three recurring themes for LEADERSHIP. First, the individual should have CURIOSITY OF MIND. They tend to question everything. They are CURIOUS about how things work and CURIOUS about people. Second, the individual loves a CHALLENGE. Discomfort is their comfort zone. Third, is how the individual manages their own career, focusing on building a track record of SUCCESS.

LEADERS, need HUMILITY to know what they don’t know but have the CONDFIDENCE to make a decision amid the ambiguity. A bit of chaos can help foster CREATIVITY and INNOVATION. What is needed is HUMILITY, EMPATHY and RESPECT of others to bring everybody on the team along.

A very important QUALITY FOR EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP is TRUSTWORTHINESS. One in a LEADERSHIP role should not shave corners of the truth with others. They should own up to their mistakes and give credit where credit is due. They should look at their team as people as opposed to assets.

A close relative to TRUSTWORTHINESS is how much RESPECT you have for the people working with you. How much you RESPECT others is everything. It is a gift by giving TRUSTWORTHINESS and RESPECT to others. When that occurs the gift will definitely be given back to you. That is what the Native Americans call the CIRCLE.

You do not have to be a LEADER to be a LEADER. If you possess the QUALITIES FOR LEADERSHIP others will TRUST, RESPECT and follow you whether you have the title or not. So be a TEAM PLAYER, ACQUIRE THE QUALITIES OF LEADERSHIP AND ENJOY THE RESPECT YOU WILL EARN.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY WITHIN YOUR CONTROL TO LEAD OTHERS.
