CHOOSE POSSIBILITIES NOT EXPECTATIONS…P. Moffatt, Winnegrad

We all pay a heavy price of distress by getting caught in an endless cycle of desire and attachment, which leads to constant EXPECTATIONS. EXPECTATIONS cause one to be irritable, disappointed, tense and disillusioned. There is a better way to approach the future. EXPECTATIONS creates a false illusion that life is controlled, although life is constantly changing freely from how we believe it should.

EXPECTATIONS assume definite results and are future based. EXPECTATIONS narrow your options, retard your imagination and blind you to POSSIBILITIES. EXPECTATIONS cause you to react to any perceived threat to the future you believe you deserve. EXPECTATIONS prevent you from living in the present.

POSSIBILITIES are established in the present moment. Based on your values and spiritual qualities you can live fully in the present, enjoying the POSSIBILITIES. Being open to POSSIBILITIES you flow with the changes of life and therefore your desires may change. One’s well being is not based on their future desires. YOU RESPOND TO LIFE RATHER THAN REACT TO IT. Therefore, you have more access to your imagination and intuition.

It is not that you must avoid making plans or moving toward goals; it is that you do not become defined by those EXPECTATIONS or attached to the outcome. Feel the freedom that exists in being able to respond rather than react when life goes other than how you had planned. There is a difference of living out of your values and spiritual qualities than living for results. Always make the effort but do not be attached to any specific outcome.

To be in the moment, and not be defined by EXPECTATIONS, you must demonstrate love, compassion, and empathy for others. Then you can receive life as it unfolds. Here you are giving to life without the burden of EXPECTATION.

TO EVENTUALLY BE MORE PRODUCTIVE IN LIFE; WE HAVE TO CHOOSE POSSIBILITIES,  A PRESENCE, OVER PRODUCTIVITY.

  1. So true. Most of us divide time into three major parts: Past. Present. Future. And most of us get stuck in either the Past or the Future and spend precious little time in the Present. Since you cannot change the Past, it is better to learn from it. And since you cannot see into the Future, it is better not to worry over it. This does not mean we should discard our memories and, of course, it would be pure irresponsibility to never plan for different phases of our lives, but to be truly in the moment can be so rewarding. Thanks for the reminder.
