CURIOSITY SHOULD PREVAIL OVER MASTERY…J.Pincott, Winnegrad

TOTAL CERTAINTY IS AN ILLUSION. When nothing is certain everything is possible. Ambiguity allows us to take in new information and be more FLEXIBLE. We sometimes have a distorted sense of reality. This is called EGOCENTRIC BIAS. This can cause us to misread others, it undermines empathy and tolerance and also gives us a bias to new information. We have to recognize that our point of view is not necessarily the best one. We have to get past ourselves and let OUR CURIOSITY PREVAIL OVER OUR ASSUMED MASTERY.

We have to be emotionally more receptive to other people’s PERSPECTIVE. We have to learn to self-distance from our EGO. Accepting a setback is an opportunity to learn. REMEMBER FAILURE OR NOT KNOWING IS AN EVENT, NOT AN IDENTITY.  Using our EMPATHY, we can then understand and accept other people’s VIEWPOINT.

STAYING TRUE TO YOUR CURIOSITY, PASSIONS, SKILLS AND NOT ONLY LIVING FOR MASTERY WILL GIVE YOUR LIFE MEANING. Illuminate your beliefs with other people’s PERSPECTIVES. Avoid being RIGID in your beliefs. Always be open and accepting to different OUTLOOKS. CURIOSITY SHOULD PREVAIL OVER THE GOAL OF MASTERY.

NEVER SEEK ONLY MASTERY, TAKE PLEASURE IN THE MANY STEPS OF THE PROCESS. Mark Twain said; “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you discover the reason why.” Life is PURPOSE.

ALWAYS MAINTAIN CURIOSITY. NEVER ASSUME MASTERY. ALWAYS APPRECIATE YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE.

  1. Rather than mastery, I will choose to practice “Beginner’s Mind” ~ breathing and being aware of the authentic moment that I am being gifted. For this I am grateful ~ Happy New Year, Happy New Day, Happy New Breath ~
