The following are selections from THE SONG OF LIFE, a book by H. Exley. They are very short, HEART tugging statements, that ALL HUMANS should absorb into their way of life. The statements are the WISDOM writings of Native American people. Your HEARTS will slowly be touched.

1. The way to attain the beauty in life is through HARMONY. Be in HARMONY with all things, but most importantly, be in HARMONY with yourself first. That one word, HARMONY, will neutralize any problems and help your life to become beautiful.

• Listen to the voices of nature, for it holds treasures for you.

• When people move away from nature their HEARTS become hardened.

• As a child I understood how to give; I have forgotten this GRACE since I became civilized.

• We should be as water, which is lower than all things yet stronger even than the rocks. THE GREATEST STRENGTH IS GENTLENESS.

• If the mountain can forgive the scarring and the mining, and can cover over her gashes with the fresh grass of summer, should I not also, be able to cover over the gashes with the fresh grasses of KINDNESS and UNDERSTANDING?

• How desperately do we need to be LOVED and to LOVE… With it we are creative. With it we march tirelessly. With it and with it alone, we are able to SACRIFICE for others.

• PEACE isn’t the absence of war, but the constant effort to maintain HARMONIOUS existence between all peoples, from individual to individual, and between humans and other beings.

• HAPPINESS should be your personal goal. It should transcend all other goals you have in your life. If you are HAPPY, your life is improved in every way. It’s the most powerful form of positive thinking. With it, all your goals can be realized.

1. There’s a longing among all people and creatures to have a sense of PURPOSE and WORTH. To satisfy that common longing in all of us, we must RESPECT each other.
