Most of us are trained to read with our minds. We pass over words, fitting them into ideas, and we use these ideas as the measure of our understanding. But there is another way to read, where the words themselves take on a life of their own, and the rhythms open a floodgate of images and sympathies, until we feel the heartbeat of the writer. It is a way of reading that is more like listening to music, where the sheer power of the sound can touch the hearer’s heart. Read the following quote of Chief Dan George with your heart not your mind. GAIN LOVE.
“LOVE IS SOMETHING YOU AND I MUST HAVE. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look out confidently at the world. We turn inward and begin to feed upon our own personalities, and little by little we destroy ourselves.
WITH IT we are creative. WITH IT we march tirelessly. WITH IT and WITH IT alone, we are able to sacrifice for others.”
TAKE CARE, STAY WELL, STAY HEALTHY. HAVE FAITH. BEAR LOVE. THANK YOU.
