A TREE…L. Ma, Winnegrad

Nature reminds us that our world can be a magnificent one and that our day to day worries need not define our lives. We are genetically eager to like all things living. By simply sitting among TREES and taking in nature’s awe-inspiring splendor, we can feel the flow of life. Nature changes our brain for the better. Research has found that the part of the brain that processes fear and stress is less activated in people who spend time amongst TREES. Just spending 120 minutes a week amongst the TREES is sufficient.

Walking in an area of many TREES is found to lower pulse rate and blood pressure. Enjoying the beauty of nature can also reduce the heat of stress. Even tending to an indoor garden or a plant has the same effect. I told this story before; I had a student in my class and he was very frustrated because he had trouble solving a problem. We were in a building in New York City on the seventh floor. I took the student to the window and showed him the only TREE on the street. I said; “go to the TREE, hug the TREE and sit on the ground facing the TREE and talk to it for 15 minutes. Talk about anything but the problem.” After the 15 minutes and a second hug he came back upstairs and solved the problem. HUG A TREE AND DO NOT LET PETTY ANNOYANCES DEFINE OUR LIVES.

BE A TREE FOR OTHERS.

TAKE CARE, STAY WELL, STAY HEALTHY. HAVE FAITH. BEAR LOVE. THANK YOU.
