There was once a farmer that had his horse run away. His neighbors came and said to him, “such bad fortune.” “MAYBE,” the farmer said. The next morning the horse came back bringing with it three wild horses. “What great fortune,” the neighbors said. “MAYBE,” the farmer said. The following day the farmer’s son tried to ride one of the wild horses. He was thrown off and broke his leg. The son would forever be limping. The neighbors said, “what terrible fortune.” “MAYBE,” said the farmer. The next morning the army came to the village to recruit able bodied youngsters for the war.  Seeing the farmer’s son limping, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated him, “what wonderful fortune.” “MAYBE,” said the farmer. It is hard to know which experience would be good and which would be bad.

Everything is constantly changing. The future can’t be controlled. All we can control is how we meet each moment. The more we accept each moment the less we are thrown around by the ups and downs of life. The bad news is, nothing lasts forever, the good news is nothing lasts forever. So there is nothing to worry about, change is always around the corner.
